About Allen Woods Homes
Allen Woods Homes is the largest of the San Marcos Housing Authority sites with 125 units and a mixed population of low-income elderly, families, and singles. Allen Woods also has two playgrounds in the neighborhood and the PODER Learning Center, a community center that offers a wide variety of assistance, space for neighborhood events and recreations, and computer access for residential use. PODER also includes the Service Coordinator office that helps connect residents with local resources, create events such as bingos for seniors, help with Resident Assembly meetings, schedule classes such as self-sufficiency classes for families, and run an after-school program for children 1st grade and up.
