Springtown Villa

Springtown Villa is a three-story residential facility (Project-Based Section 8) owned by the San Marcos Housing Authority. It first opened in 1979 and is specifically designated for low-income elderly and/or disabled residents. The facility has 60 apartments (54 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom units). The apartments include resident-activated alarm switches to alert neighbors in an emergency, security cameras, a central fire alarm system (connected to the San Marcos Fire Department), a front door equipped with special access codes for 911 responders, a sitting room on the third floor, a laundry room on the second floor, and a community room on the first floor. The San Marcos Housing Authority Resident Services Department has an office on the second floor.

In the summer of 2009, Resident Services created a small "Internet CafĂ©," with three Internet-connected computers for resident use on the first floor. AARP volunteers are available to help residents learn how to use the computers and access the Internet. They are also available to respond to requests for general assistance and to refer residents to appropriate service providers.
